Monthly support sustains the Richmond Food Shelf and ensures we have predictable income to provide a wide variety of nourishing foods for our neighbors.
As food and the cost of living continues to rise, the most vulnerable folks in our community are hit the hardest. People have to choose between heating their home or buying groceries for their families. Visits to the food shelf help alleviate some of those difficult choices for our neighbors. We try our best to connect food shelf customers with other supports in the area to receive social services, job services and other helpful opportunities.
Reliable monthly support from our sustainers allows us to respond quickly to the needs of our food shelf customers.
The majority of the food we distribute is purchased.
We collaborate with local farms such as Jericho Settler’s Farm and the VYCC to provide fresh produce to our food shelf customers.
Access to food is a human right.
Everyone deserves to have access to nourishing food.
